The Area

Map with apartment

Our apartment is in the heart of the village of Cassis--no need to drive to the local market, the port or the beach! Everything is within a short stroll--restaurants, shops, a day swimming or sunning, a sail to the Calanques, even tennis and hiking (but take a sun hat!). A bit farther afield, there are wineries to visit, Roman archaeological sites and the nearby attractions of St. Remy, Aix en Provence, Isle sur La Sorgue, Les Baux, Arles and the Camargue--all within an easy day trip. Don't forget to have a delicious meal on the terrace at Le Clos des Aromes and for sure, a cool gelato in the town before turning in. We chose Cassis after many trips to the South of France for its authentic appeal, for the friendliness and welcoming atmosphere of the residents and shopkeepers and for the beauty of the sea and the Calanques. It is truly a treasure and we hope you will come and stay with us.

Cassis is on the coast in the South of France, 20 min by car from the Marseille TGV, which is 3 hrs from Paris.

There is a map of the area to the right of the page and you will see our apartment marked with a red triangle. If you click on it, you will see a larger version.

Living room Cocktail hour

Our sunny, inviting apartment occupies the complete second floor of a traditional Cassis building constructed in the early 1900's.

It has a spacious (35m2) living/ dining room with 2 sets of French doors leading to a south-facing balcony. There is a table that you can sit at on the balcony.

There is a sofa bed (2 person) and fireplace in the living room.

The dining table seats up to 8 people if you plan on entertaining.

Kitchen Dining table

The gourmet kitchen is separate and fully equipped with oven and microwave, 4 burner cooktop, full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, washer and dryer.

The apartment is furnished with antiques and original art work and reflects the panache of Southern France.

Lofts above the living room and both bedrooms are designed to give guests privacy and room for individual activities.

The living room loft is furnished with HD flat screen TV, ADSL internet connection, stereo and CD player with DVD connection to the TV.

It can also accommodate additional sleeping.

Double sized bed Queen sized bed

There is a full bathroom with a bathtub and shower plus a separate water closet.

The master bedroom is furnished with a queen bed, has its own balcony and the loft above is an office which is DSL-equipped.

The guest bedroom has a double bed with a single bed in the upstairs mezzanine.

All rooms have French windows, and they are light and airy.

Balcony off of master bedroom Mezzanine

The apartment is elegant, while feeling warm and comfortable, with a decor that reflects the atmosphere of the sea, hills and vineyards of this lovely part of Provence.

The apartment totals 90 square meters (970 square feet), so it is comfortable for a family with children or couples vacationing together.

There is extensive documentation provided for guests to explore the town, the Calanques of Cassis and the surrounding region.

We have a privileged relationship with the lovely hotel, Le Clos des Aromes, and can arrange meals on their beautiful terrace.

Marina Cassis Street to Port

Cassis has retained its authentic "fishing village" identity, while being welcoming to European and English-speaking tourists. Just walk to the port in early morning and see the fishermen setting out for the day's catch, and coming back to port to display their offerings!

There are two beaches in town with showers, the boules alley, a children's park and many flavors of gelato two steps away. The town limits car traffic, so strolling is a favorite pastime, along with the obligatory pastis at 5:00 PM.

We chose Cassis after many trips to the South because it offers everything--the delicious flavors of Provence, excellent access to other major Provencal sites and cities as well as good air and train connections to Paris, Milan and other European destinations.

We hope that you will find a warm place in your heart for Cassis as we have!
