The Area

Paris Street, Rainy Day Place de Dublin

In the fashionable Eighth Arrondissement, this apartment is located right off the quaint Place de Dublin in the heart of the "Europe" district, which was developed in the middle of the 19th century and was a favorite subject of many Impressionist painters.

Our building, 3, rue Clapeyron, is shown in the background of this famous painting on the left by Caillebotte called "Paris Street, Rainy Day".

The neighborhood looks much the same today as you can see from the photo.

Now, however, the Place de Dublin has trees and cafés, bakeries, and other small shops.

There are charming flower boxes on the apartment balconies and in many of the windows throughout the area.

Location

View Quartier de l'Europe in a larger map.

This apartment is located on a quiet street in a residential Parisian neighborhood at the top of the Eighth Arrondissement. The Eighth Arrondissement contains many of Paris' best known sights: the avenue des Champs-Elysées, the Madeleine, Place de la Concorde, the luxury shops along the rue du Faubourg St. Honoré and the avenue Montaigne and, of course, part of the right bank of the Seine. The "Europe" district itself is very typically Parisian and is much more residential with fewer tourists than the better known parts of the Eighth Arrondissement. The other parts of the Eighth are only minutes away by foot, bus, or metro.

There are 3 metro stops within a 3 minute walk of the apartment. All of these stops are pleasant and relatively uncrowded. The Place de Clichy, with its metro stop (lines 2 and 13), cinemas, bookstore, and late-night cafés and restaurants, and the Gare St. Lazare, a major transportation hub, are only slightly further away. Several bus lines stop on or near the Place de Dublin.

Shopping opportunities abound in the immediate vicinity. The small streets off the Place de Dublin have many restaurants, bakeries, and other food shops. One block away, on the boulevard des Batignolles, is a weekly outdoor organic food market. The daily outdoor market on the rue de Lévis is also very convenient. Just across the boulevard des Batignolles is the village-like rue des Batignolles, with its many shops and restaurants. There is also a very good gym, which can be hard to find in Paris. A short walk away is the beautiful Parc Monceau, one of Paris' best-loved parks. This is a great place for jogging, people watching, and relaxing. It also has a children's playground. Montmartre and the major department stores on the Boulevard Haussmann (Printemps, Galeries Lafayette) are a 10 minute walk from the apartment. The Champs-Elysées and the Opera are three short metro stops away and also easily accessible by foot.

We have made arrangements with a chauffeur service to provide transportation from the airport to our apartments.

You may book this service by going to our Special Services & Activities page.

On the left side of the page, close to the bottom, choose 'Car Transfer'.

Hall

This apartment is on the fourth floor (the fifth American floor) of a beautiful mid-nineteenth century Haussmanian building which is the classic Parisian style apartment building.

The high floor location and west-by-southwest exposure means a lot of light but minimal street noise.

Hall

This is not a busy neighborhood in any case.

There is a typically cozy Parisian elevator if you do not want to climb the broad circular staircase.

The apartment itself is furnished with a mix of French and Asian antiques complimented by modern furniture, oriental carpets, and art.

It has the eclectic feel of a true Parisian home.

When you enter the apartment, there is a spacious hallway that provides access to all of the rooms.

The apartment has approximately 850 square feet (78 square metres) of living space.

There are a lot of period detail such as moldings, marble fireplaces, and "point de Hongrie" style parquet floors.

The three largest rooms have elegant windows which are almost floor-to-ceiling.

They are complimented by decorative grills that let in lots of light and look out onto a charming street scene as shown in the photo above.

King sized bed Master bedroom

Upon arriving in the apartment, the first room on your left is the large main bedroom.

It has the rare luxury in Paris of having a true king sized bed for added comfort.

There is a large amount of closet and storage space for your clothes as well as your other belongings.

As in the other main rooms, there is a charming marble fireplace with mirror opposite the bed.

For a touch of drama, purple curtains which are lined to block out unwanted light at night gracefully drape the windows.

A lovely purple chandelier is just the finishing touch needed to add to the elegance.

Dining room full Dining room with fireplace

The central room in this apartment is a beautiful dining room with two large windows facing the street.

It has a large marble fireplace and mirror, with elegant moldings throughout.

There is a dining table that can accommodate 8 for dinner with the addition of built-in extensions.

There is a small desk area in this room beside the fireplace should you need a work space.

This room also has a small stereo making it the perfect place to enjoy some family time.

Kitchen

Across the hallway from the dining room is a modern kitchen with a window looking out onto a quiet courtyard.

The kitchen was renovated in 2013 to add a modern look to this room.

This room is very spacious by Parisian standards with all of the appliances, cookware, and counter space you need to prepare a gourmet meal.

Even if you do not want to cook, you will want to sample the local bakeries and 'traiteurs' (which sell may types of prepared foods) as well as the gourmet food halls of the nearby department stores.

The living room is located next to the dining room.

Salon Salon with fireplace

Like the other main rooms in this apartment, it has a large window facing the street plus a marble fireplace with mirror.

We have furnished this room with a comfortable sofa which can be converted to a queen sized bed with a comfortable mattress, a comfortable leather arm chair, as well as additional chairs for reading or relaxing.

There is a television with DVD player located on the wall opposite the fireplace.

This room can be accessed either directly from the dining room or from the hallway.

The main bedroom, dining room, and living room are all interconnected by doors that you can either leave open or close for more privacy.

Double sized bed Toilet

At the end of the hallway is a small, cozy and very private second bedroom.

This room has a double sized bed.

This bedroom is extremely quiet and has a window looking onto an inner courtyard.

The apartment has a large bathroom with both a bathtub and shower.

This room is located beside the small bedroom and off of the main hallway.

There is also a vanity for your toiletries as well as storage underneath the sink in the cupboards.

Bathroom

The modern window in the bathroom can be positioned so that only the top is open.

This allows for the room to air out during your shower or after you have finished.

At the other end of the apartment is the toilet (or WC), which is quite large by Parisian standards and has its own sink.

We hope that you enjoy staying in our Paris home as much as we do!
