The Area

Located in the residential heart of historic Montmartre, this charming apartment, in a typical 1910 Parisian building, is the perfect setting for your visit to Paris. It is the ideal place to experience Paris like a true Parisian - calm and tranquil yet just a few steps away from a myriad of bakeries, butchers, charming restaurants, boutiques and supermarkets to satisfy your every need.

The "Basilique du Sacré Coeur" perched at the top of the "Butte Montmartre" is a few minutes away. It is packed with bars, restaurants and the famous art markets as well numerous museums and places of interest. Pigalle and the famous Moulin Rouge are 10 minutes walk in the opposite direction. The overall area has maintained its original charm with cobbled, tree lined streets and a very friendly 'village-like' atmosphere.

Location

At the foot of the Butte Montmatre, the apartment is minutes from all the sights but away from the noise and crowds. Seconds away from Lamarck- Caulaincourt metro (line 12), well served by buses going to all points of interest in Paris and a short train/taxi ride to Gare du Nord, it is an excellent location to serve as a base for exploring Paris. However, if you want to 'stay at home' there is more than enough in the immediate area to keep you occupied. A good start to your trip would be to explore on foot or via the 'Montmartrobus', an electric bus which you can catch a few minutes away on rue Lepic or on rue Caulaincourt.

This apartment has been redecorated very recently and at 75 square meters, it is very spacious and bright. The apartment is located through a quiet cobbled courtyard on the 5th floor so thankfully there is a lift!! But if you want a bit of exercise, walk up the solid staircase with original 1910 banisters to experience the apartment’s real charm.

It has interesting vistas of Parisian architecture and a view of the “Basilique du Sacré Coeur” from a Window in the Salon. To view at it best advantage, look at it by night, with natural lighting from the moon and stars – very romantic!

By day, the apartment is flooded with natural sunlight and ventilation from three different directions. It boasts the original wood flooring and still retains some of the original mouldings making it the perfect mix of old world charm and modern conveniences.

All furniture, linen and crockery are new and were chosen by the current owners to maximise your comfort.

Because of its situation, in an internal courtyard and the solid 1910 construction (i.e. very thick walls!), it is very quiet. It is possible to sleep in both of the two spacious bedrooms with windows open and still get perfect nights sleep. This was one of the many attributes that attracted us to this apartment.

The Master bedroom or the ‘Red room’ has excellent light, ventilation with its typical floor to ceiling window opening onto a small balcony over looking the internal courtyard.

It boasts a queen bed and plenty of storage as well as a comfy seating area for you to curl up with a book and a glass of wine.

The second bedroom has a similar window and views, with a queen bed and an additional sofa bed that can also sleep one, but also doubles up as a quiet relaxing/reading area. It also has plenty of storage.

The bathroom, located off the central entryway in the apartment, has a full sized bath and overhead shower plus a separate washer and dryer for your laundry.

The toilet/WC is located in a separate room off of the hallway as well.

The large Salon has a dining area that can comfortably seat up to six adults.

The relaxing seating area has a flat screen TV, a multi-region DVD player and stacks of DVD’s to watch as well as coffee-table books to leaf through.

The apartment offers broadband cable (including CNN and BBC) as well as wi-fi broadband internet connection that you can access from your laptop.

There is an analogue phone by the television that allows free internet phone service to a number of countries (details available in welcome pack).

We also have an iPod docking station available, should you wish to listen to music.

It is light bright and spacious during they day and calm/tranquil at night.

The large sofa can convert to a bed to sleep an additional two people and it has that fantastic view of the “Basilique du Sacré Coeur”!

Along with comfy chairs, and a beautiful solid teak “explorateur” desk’ it’s the perfect place to relax and plan your “exploration” Paris!

The brand new kitchen is fully equipped with every thing you need to try out your culinary skills.

With the local shops just a short walk away you can prepare a gourmet meal for 6 or simply sample the fare from the local bakeries and 'traiteurs' (where you can buy all sorts of delicious prepared foods). Try the "Port Sale avec Lentilles" – it’s superb).

The apartment is stocked with coffee and tea and cleaning materials for your convenience.

After months of searching for the right place we fell in love at first sight “nous avons un coup de foudre” with this apartment.
