The Area
During the late 19th and early 20th Centuries the bohemian lifestyle of Montmartre attracted a number of important writers and artists, including
Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec and Picasso, who lived there from 1908-1912, during his so-called blue period.
Circa 1938, Edith Piaf lived on Avenue Junot and the avenue is today home to a number of well known actors, film directors and music producers.
Ciné 13, for example, at 1 Avenue Junot, a small theatre operated by Claude Lelouch (a well known French film director), has restored glamour to
cinema going with its red leather armchairs, cocktails and swanky lighting.
Around the corner from the Cine 13 is the Moulin de la Galette, a windmill-turned dancing club that inspired Renoir's Le Bal de la Moulin de la Galette.
Across the road is a sculpture of a man coming through a wall, named after Marcel Ayme's short story, "La Passe Muraille" (The Walker Through Walls).
Montmartre to this day retains a unique, vibrant, village-like atmosphere.
Location
At the foot of the Butte Montmatre, the apartment is minutes from all the sights but away from the noise and crowds. Seconds away from Lamarck-
Caulaincourt metro (line 12), well served by buses going to all points of interest in Paris and a short train/taxi ride to Gare du Nord, it is
an excellent location to serve as a base for exploring Paris. However, if you want to 'stay at home' there is more than enough in the immediate
area to keep you occupied. A good start to your trip would be to explore on foot or via the 'Montmartrobus', an electric bus which you can catch a
few minutes away on rue Lepic or on rue Caulaincourt.
We have made arrangements with a chauffeur service to provide transportation from the airport to our apartments. They offer a discounted rate for
PerfectlyParis clients.
