The Area
Sacre Coeur looms above Paris like a grand white guardian angel, and is the recognizable mark to the area of Montmartre. Once the hub of
activity in the 1800s, the area still bustles with activity. Next door to Sacre Coeur is the Place du Tertre, the little village square where
Toulouse Lautrec, Van Gogh, and Picasso spent time, as well as Ernest Hemingway, who often ate in the restaurant Au Cliron des Chausseurs, which
is still located at in the square.
Montmartre is an interesting blend of old and new, packed with tiny little cobblestone streets perfect for exploring on foot. It offers that
perfectly Paris flavor with neighborhood bakeries, creperies and small cafes, as well as lively, colorful hangouts with piano bars and late night
eateries. The Moulin Rouge and Place Pigalle are just down the hill.
Location
Located on the highest point of Paris, overlooking the city itself, and next door to Sacre Coeur is a perfect little Paris apartment
overlooking the famous artist square at the Place du Tertre. Situated in a typical old Parisian building dating from the 1700s, the area lends
itself to romantic walks, great restaurants, and great views of the city. Further down the hill, to the south is the rue des Abbesses where you
can find small cafes and shops, and even an open market on Saturday.
If the cobblestone streets and sloping hills up to Montmartre become too much, public transportation is available in the convenient form of a
small electric bus which zips through the narrow streets. There is also a funicular that makes the climb up the amazingly steep steps of Sacre
Coeur from the tourist shops and restaurants below. Metro Abbesses is a two-minute walk, connecting you to the Place Concord, or a bus from
Pigalle will take you straight to the Arc de Triumphe.

Bedroom 1: Double Bed
This totally restored apartment has original exposed beams, high ceilings, and new furnishings.
There is an original marble fireplace, wood floors, floor to ceiling windows, and a living room view that overlooks an incredible view of the
bustle of Place du Tertre and the artists.
The apartment is 30 square meters (about 330 square feet) with a living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bath area big enough for two.
When entering the apartment, you are directly in the kitchen area with the shower room and toilet up a couple of steps to your left.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, stove and refrigerator/freezer. The combination washer/dryer is in the kitchen beside
the refrigerator.
There is also a typical French coffee press plus a teapot and all of the little amenities you would normally want at home.
Directly across from the kitchen is the bedroom which is conveniently located on an inner courtyard, away from the bustling square.
The bedroom with a full sized bed is an inviting area to stay in. We would hope that you would not stay in too much though as the city
calls for exploration.
From the bathroom and bedroom windows you get a slight peek at the tips of the dome of the Sacre Coeur, just an arms length away.
To the right of the kitchen is the salon.
The living room is bright and airy as the tall French windows open onto the square where you can watch the artists busily at work.
There is an old, antique armoire ready for your own belongings in the living room.
If you decide to spend a day in, you can sit listening to the bustle of the square, while being absorbed in one of the travel books or listen to a
CD while rubbing those tired feet.
There is a table in the salon which can serve as a place to serve your own French-prepared meal. You could also use it as a spot to
plan your next excursion in Paris.
There is also a pullout sofa in the living room, which comfortably sleeps two.
This apartment is idea for a couple celebrating a wedding or anniversary who want to get away to a romantic hideaway, or for friends who want
to experience Paris life in a private home atmosphere.
Nearly 20 years ago this owner knew she would make Paris her home, and Montmartre would be the place. Now she is sure you will also find the
romantic charm of the area, and of this apartment irresistible.
Let the Place du Tertre be your home away from home as you explore the cobblestone streets of the area, as well as all of the special places
Paris has to offer.
