The Area
You will feel like a "Parisien" rather than a tourist in this part of the city as it is a residential neighbourhood to the west of the hill of
Montmartre, off the direct tourist route. The shops, restaurants and amenities serve locals who live and work here, providing excellent
service and value for money.
The charm, convenience and village-like atmosphere is backed up by fantastic local bakeries, fruit markets, butchers, wine shops, famous chocolate,
supermarkets and a choice of local bars and cafes.
At the same time you are only minutes away from the superb sights at Sacre Coeur overlooking Paris. The historic and artistic atmosphere of
Montmartre are bound to captivate you. You will be charmed by the narrow winding streets, it's cemetery and vineyard and the bustling nightlife
of Pigalle.
Location
Rue Caulaincourt enjoys excellent transportation with metro and bus connections to all the main tourist centres of Paris. The Lamarck-Caulaincourt
Metro stop is only 5 minutes away bringing you, in about 10 minutes, directly to l'Opera, shopping in les grands magasins (best large Department stores),
the Madeleine, the Musee D'Orsay on the Seine and St Germain des Pres beyond.
The 80 bus route is immediately outside the front door and brings you within 15 minutes to the areas above as well as to the Champs-Elysees
and the Eiffel Tower beyond. The number 95, just slightly further down the road will bring you to the Opera, shopping at les grands magasins, the
Louvre, Notre Dame and St Germain des Pres beyond. Going in the opposite direction, the 95 will take you to the famous Paris flea markets at rue
Clignancourt in about 15 minutes.

This bright, newly refurbished first floor apartment is on rue Caulaincourt- one of the most desirable residential streets in Montmartre, with it's
gentle curve and tree-lined, typically Parisienne architecture.
The access controlled, typically French entrance door off rue Caulaincourt leads into a charming tiled entrance hall and the first of two landscaped
courtyards.
The flat overlooks the second courtyard which is filled with trees and plants. The buildings and courtyards are well maintained.
If you happen to meet the neighbours, you will find them both polite and friendly. There is a concierge on duty from 8AM until 12PM Monday to Saturday.
The entrance to our apartment is off a lovely winding stairs on the first floor.
This lovely, traditional flat with high ceilings, fireplaces, parquet timber floors and tall "French" windows, consists of a living
room, double bedroom and separate kitchen-breakfast room.
We have recently refurbished and redecorated this 49 square metres (550 sq.ft) apartment so all amenities are new and modern.
All rooms have separate access from the spacious entrance hallway.
There is a large storage cupboard off of the hall which you may use for luggage, coats and large items to be kept out of view.
The living room has high ceilings with a sunny aspect. French windows look onto the large, serene landscaped courtyard.
It has a corner fireplace, parquet timber floors, a large leather sofa that opens to a very comfortable bed for two and a coffee table that
cleverly converts to a large table seating six for formal dining.
There is cable television with both English and French channels, high-speed Internet access and a telephone with answer machine.
The well-proportioned bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed, more "French" windows overlooking the courtyard and a corner fireplace.
Luxury bedding and towels are provided.
The fitted kitchen includes a full size oven and four-ring electric hob.
There is also a washing machine and a full height refrigerator with freezer.
It is fully equipped with crockery, pots, pans and all necessary utensils.
There is a folding table so you can have breakfast or small meals in the kitchen while food is being prepared.
The kitchen's double window provides a view that looks west across the Paris rooftops.
It also offers wonderful cross ventilation on those warm summer days.
This panoramic view from the first floor apartment is due to a characteristic which is particular to Montmartre.
Parallel streets run at different levels as they step up toward Sacre Coeur and then connect to each other by a series of dramatic steps.
The bathroom and toilet is in the same room.
It can be accessed off of the hallway, which means no one disturbs others who are sleeping should you be up late at night or early in the
morning. There is a large shower and fully tiled walls for easy cleaning.
Kilim rugs, retro furniture and framed prints throughout complement the character of this well laid out, comfortable and quiet apartment.
