Renting an apartment in a foreign country can be an exhilarating experience. It can also be frustrating if you are not a 'self catering' type of traveler. All of our
apartments are located in normal, residential buildings. Our flat is usually the only unit that is rented out to tourists like you. This means there is no room service,
no housekeeping (until your departure), no 24-hour reception and no concierge to plan your trip or make dinner reservations.
With all of this in mind, we are available by telephone in the case of an emergency.
Living amongst other full-time Parisian residents also requires a different level of respect and consideration as you may have different schedules than the rest of the
people living in the building. We ask that you always conduct yourselves in a respectful and discrete manner when entering/exiting the building and in the common spaces as
many of us are more accustomed to larger spaces, or single family homes in our native countries with minimal contact with our neighbours. In Paris, as you will see, we
all live right on top of one another!
In your apartment, you will have more space than in a hotel room and will also have the opportunity to relax and sit somewhere (other than on the bed!), cook a meal or
invite friends over.
It is up to you to explore the neighborhood, linger at cafes, do your own food shopping and wander the streets like a local. That is what is so exciting and adds to the
richness of your Parisian rental experience!
Do your apartments have air conditioning?
With the exception of our Rooftop Vista and Luxurious Laborde apartments, none of our properties are equipped with air conditioning. It is very rare in Paris that the
summer temperatures reach a point that requires A/C. The thick, stone constructions of Parisian buildings keep the interiors of the apartments much cooler than the outside
air. The low humidity level in Paris in summer also keeps us comfortable during the warmer months. Many of our flats have windows on both sides of the apartment to allow
for a nice breeze.
Additionally, all of our apartments are equipped with fans for your comfort.
How do I get the keys to the apartment?
Once you have sent us your arrival details (i.e. flight number, time, train arrival, etc.), we will schedule a specific time when we will meet you inside the apartment.
We will send you an arrival instruction sheet with important information that you will need to have handy in order to get inside the building and to the apartment where
you will be met.
Please note that you will NOT be able to get into the apartment without this document so please make sure to carry it with you in your hand luggage while traveling.
Based on availability of the apartment, we may be able to check you in prior to 16:00.
Please note that we only be able to greet you between the hours of 8:30-20:30. If you're arriving earlier or later than this, alternative arrangements may have to do be
made and this may incur a late or early check-in fee.
It is important to remember that no one will be at the apartment to let you in until you have have prescheduled a meeting time with us.
What if I'm driving to Paris? Is there parking at the apartment?
Driving into Paris can be very nerve racking, even for the most experienced of European drivers. We strongly advised against driving to Paris or parking your vehicle,
rental car, et al, in Paris. Parking is at a premium and NONE of our apartments have parking spots. Paris is a city that is best visited on foot, by metro or by bus.
Having a car will only be a nuisance for you.
If you are arriving by car, you must notify us when booking. We ask that you call us approximately 1 hour prior to your arrival at the apartment. We will not set a
specific meeting time until you have phoned us on the day of your arrival one hour before you get to Paris. Please keep in mind that we can only check you in until 20:30
so we would appreciate you planning your arrival before this time.
We do not have cars or drive in Paris and are not familiar with the various parking rules and regulations.
If you would still like to bring a car, you can consult the following website to reserve a parking spot in a public garage: www.parkingsdeparis.com
Is the neighborhood safe?
Yes! We have chosen to live, work and raise families in the areas where all of the apartments are located.
Keeping this in mind, remember that Paris is a big city, with big city problems just like all over the world. Pick pocketing (usually on the metro) is the most common
of these petty, non-violent crimes. We recommend carrying only what you need for the day and leaving extra money, credit cards, et al, at home. You may also wish to use a
money belt. Make sure your handbags close completely or carry your wallets in your front pockets.
In addition to this type of theft, you should also be careful when using your mobile phone in public as it is easier than you think to have someone take it right out of
your hand.
Is there an elevator?
Some of the buildings in which our apartments are located have elevators. Each apartment page reflects whether it's equipped with an elevator or not under the 'Building
Level' information at the top of the page.
Please keep this in mind when packing your bags as we are not able to carry your luggage up or down the stairs.
The lifts in Paris generally have inner doors so it is important you do not block these with luggage and never send up your bags unattended as them may shift, causing
the doors to be blocked.
Is first floor the ground floor?
No. Ground floor is considered 0 or rez de chaussee in France. In other words, if you've rented an apartment on the French 4th floor, that would be the equivalent of the
5th floor in North American terms.
Are the apartments located close to the main tourist attractions?
Yes. All of our apartments are located in Paris proper. Our city looks deceivingly large on a map but most of Paris's sights can be visited by foot. All can also be
seen by a quick metro/bus ride. The vast network of the metro system allows you to cross the entire city in about 30 minutes.
All of the apartments are located within a 20-30 minute metro ride from the Eiffel Tower.
Is smoking allowed in the apartments?
No. All of the PerfectlyParis apartments are strictly non-smoking. Violating this rule may result in the loss of your security deposit.
